Release 1.0.8 is now available with the following changes.

Updates to phase 3

  • Coding feature includes back-up and restore from one control unit to a different control unit as long as the coding index is the same.
  • Normal editable parameters are now accessible with the software. This includes items that are typically accessed with CIP or Car Key Memory.
  • We will add the ability to code many more control modules over the next few weeks with the focus being on MY02+ cars.
  • Software update check now occurs in the background after the program starts, instead of before. With this change, the program starts almost instantly.

Phase 3 is released! Changes include added support for Phase 3 models in addition to the following:

  • Redesign of the startup screen. Now select a vehicle by series or chassis type. On models with multiple options, the software will prompt you to select the appropriate equipment.
  • Improved startup time
November 1st, 2008
Phase 2 is released! Changes include added support for Phase 2 models in addition to the following:

Installation
  • Due to changes to the installation files, you must uninstall the beta software you have before you can install the new version. To do so, go to Add/Remove Programs within your computer's Control Panel and remove Bavarian technic from there. If you get the error, "Unable to start application," it indicates that the old software must be removed and the new software installed.
Actual values
  • Now allows activations to be run from the Actual Values screen.
  • Graph improvements:
    • Graph will automatically create a separate scale for each unit of measure.
    • Line thickness is now larger and easier to see.
    • Metric vs. Imperial option - Many values can now be displayed in either metric units or imperial units. Most values are based in metric, but in some cases you will see two of the same values with the only difference being the units of measure.
    • Many new actual values have been added. In some cases we are supporting all actual values available by the control module and many more than any other tool. For example, the MSD80 DME now supports over 600 actual values.
    • You can now move the selection menu up and down. This allows you to make the selection menu / graph larger or smaller.
    • The graph can be stopped and started. It is useful to stop the graph during some events to examine them more closely. This is usually used with the graph toolbar.
    • Automatic rejection of erroneous data. Previously, the graph would show every value returned from the control module and thus would display some values as zero or empty during sampling. Now the software will detect data that is not consistent with previous values and reject them to give the graph a smoother appearance and higher accuracy.
  • Options tab:
    • Multiple graph display.
    • Items can be shown as either a single graph where all values are shown in the same graph or one graph for each unit of measure.
    • Refresh / sampling rate is now adjustable.
    • Selection Menu can be hidden to make graph larger.
    • On the options menu is a new selection for "Show graph toolbar." When checked, a new menu will appear above the graph.
  • From the graph toolbar you can:
    • Crosshairs (Allows you to hover the mouse over a graph posisition to see the exact values of a point.)
    • Zoom (Zooms in on a section of the graph. Should be used by left clicking and dragging over the section of the graph you want to enlarge.)
    • Reset view (Zooms the graph back to full size.)
    • Save (Allows you to save the graph as an image in various file formats. i.e., BMP, GIF, JPEG etc.)
    • Export data (This export is different than the normal export button and saves the data as a series of points that were used to create the graph.)
    • Page setup
    • Print preview
    • Print
User interface improvements
  • On startup, the tree view is hidden before vehicle or module is selected.
  • Some new icons and graphic images have been added to improve appearance.
  • Sort by columns: The values under the "Choose Vehicle," "Choose module," "Select Actual Values" columns can be sorted by clicking on the column headers.
Universal KWPFast protocol support
  • BMWs starting with the E65 can support a high speed communications protocol using either K-line or CAN. Previously we supported these cars with two sets of instructions, one for each protocol. Now we can communicate with either type of protocol with one set of instructions. This will reduce the number of options available in the Choose Vehicle menu.
